Calibrating a Rangefinder

Description

Kodak Retina IIa Rangefinder. Built between 1951 and 1954. This one is all goobered up. The Rangefinder is so far off it's beyond funny now. I'll be at this for another day or two before I get it done.

When the camera arrived in the mail today, I found that the shutter was jammed, and the focus didn't go to infinity. I tackled the shutter first. Took out the front element and the cover to the shutter, lubed things up, touched the blades (which made them unstick) and started working it through the speeds. After some effort, it all started to work again, and very nicely.

Then came the rangefinder. Took off the cover and found the control arm was a bit gummed up. Took off the rangefinder and disassembled it and started cleaning all the parts, including the glass. It looks and works beautifully now! The glass is so nice and sharp. But now I found the control arm from the lens is out of whack. Now I have to take off the lens and find the connection to make it right. This should be fun. I'm guessing two days at most and I'll have it working 100% again!

Wish me luck....
